I'm not quiet sure how to organize this, but I'm having feelings of rage and inspiration right now. I guess I'll start with the positive.
I bought Cecil B. Demented today, partially on whim and partially on the recommendation of someone whose taste I trust. It's really inspired me to work more on the screenplay Ryan and I were working on a few weeks ago, and to really get the project moving. I feel that the live, mostly unscripted, oneshot captures the essence style is something that would be appropriate for almost anything I could write. Good acting is considered good when it's believable, why not completely limit the use of actors in a film?
Transitionally, there are things that are bothering me, but haven't quiet evoked outrage in my everyday thoughts. Religion is the main cause of his, mostly Christianity. Everyone tells me that Christianity and Catholocism are not the same, the one's who consider themselves Christians usually push the 'bad' stuff off on the Catholics, and the Catholics don't seem to be very vocal about denying any accusations, because theyre usually true. However, I digress, the Catholics are not the root of evil, no one specifically is the root of evil (Except possibly Anne Coulter), but there are some groups who are trying to destroy America.
I dont say this in reference to any "terrorist" group, atleast not in the current sense of the word. Groups like "BattleCry" are threatening America in more ways than one. Even on the surface, a successful mission for them is going to destroy free market in the entertainment industry, our current, at bare minimum ideologically secular government would become a full blown theocracy. These people consider themselves Christians. These people hate free speech. If someone who was secular were to have these ideas, they would never have peace. They would be considered a traitor.
This brings me to the object of my rage. We have a war to fight, in more ways than one. Everyday life is a war, a war between you and your competition, between life and death, opposing companies, opposing teams. This isn't something thats new, this is a fact of society. War is struggle, struggle is life. We have wars that are important for the current; things like fighting radical groups who are attempting to impose their ideals on the lifes of those who do not agree with their ways, to simply save the way our country was meant to be.
Other countries are attacked everyday, or close to everyday. When America is struck every few years, it seems like we're shaken to our very core. The reality of this existence is that this is not a pleasent plane to live on. War is Hell. War is Life. The deaths of apparently innocent people is not a good thing. I'm in no way condoning the things that happen in this world, this is especially true in reference to the recent school shooting in Virginia, but it is relevent to it. Yes it's something thats terrible, but its not something that should be completely unexpected, Im not saying fear being shot everytime you arent alone, but our society fosters violent behavior. I forget who said it, but I saw a quote on Slashdot on the article about the Virgnia Tech shootings which went along the lines of "Its not healthy to be adjusted to a sick society"
Everyday we are desensitized to violence and hatred. Only when someone brings it into a media-enacted three ring circus do we become outraged at these things. An old man calling a group he's never met "Nappyheaded Hos" would never have been such an issue if no one had alerted someone with the resources to harass him about it. The battles we pick are ones that are inconsequential. A loss of life on a small scale, although tragic, its also inconsequential to this world. Some might argue that one of the people who died, lets say in the 9/11 incident for argument sake, might have had a child who perfected cold fusion ten years before anyone else. My retort to that is that technological advances usually occur in a similar timespan, which means there is most likely others who would be making that discovery shortly.
My main point is that, we all need to be taking up arms. There really is an over abundance of evil in this world, of which needs to be dealt with on a per case basis. The legal system sometimes helps with this fight, but we must start by taking ourselves back, and our government too. This isn't a rant, this is a rallying cry for justice, let us take our world back.
Next time I post will be a declaration of independence in existence.
Peace, Love and Light.
(I am Cecil B. Demented and you are in my movie!)
